Born into a grassroots family, Jiafu (played by Jaycee Chan) has a father (played by Eric Tsang) who is a minibus driver and a mother (played by Mabel Cheung) who works as a restaurant receptionist. Despite his humble beginnings, he enjoys the warmth of his family. He attends a prestigious girls' school with his classmates and inadvertently meets Ruonan (played by Fiona Sit), even pretending to be a top student to join a social event at the school. Ruonan's father (played by Anthony Wong) is a lawyer, and her mother (played by Yu An'an) is an active philanthropist, who is strict with her daughter and seldom around. When Ruonan meets the energetic Jiafu, she quickly becomes attracted to him. On the night of Ruonan's 18th birthday, they go camping in the outskirts and indulge in forbidden fruit.
After Ruonan discovers she is pregnant, she discusses with Jiafu about terminating the pregnancy. Faced with terrifying instruments, she has a heated argument with her family and decides to hide in her friend's ancestral home until the child is born.
Living alone, Jiafu realizes the difficulties of supporting a family, and they begin to have disagreements. Jiafu's parents manage to find them, but Ruonan's father wants to sue Jiafu for the statutory rape of a minor. Looking at the unborn grandson, will he show mercy?
