Directed by Fathah Babaf, a protégé of Abbas, this is his directorial debut at the age of twenty-six. The story begins with a couple's late-night argument, leaving young Ashar alone at home. By morning, he receives the tragic news of his parents' fatal car accident, and he must be taken back to Tehran by his deaf-mute uncle and aunt, who communicate through sign language. The silence in the car with the three of them raises the question: should the adults 'tell' the child about the death? A road movie that relies not on language, but on the power of silence, features impressive staging and a delicate portrayal of human nature.
