Inio and Rosa are a newlywed couple who, just a few months after their wedding, find themselves amidst the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. Inio, being a pro-communist, is arrested by Franco's dictatorial government. While being escorted, Inio manages to escape back home. To avoid being captured again, Inio, with Rosa's help, hides in their home's trench for 30 years.
