The story takes place after the end of World War II, a brutal war that destroyed most cities and lands, leaving women as the greatest victims of the conflict. After a long wait, 26 brides finally have the chance to reunite with their longed-for lovers. They embark on a plane called "Bride Flight," traveling thousands of miles to be with them. Aida (Karina Smulders), Esther (Anna Drijver), and Marjorie (Elise Schaap) are among these women. On the plane, Aida encounters the handsome Frank (Waldemar Torenstra), and the two quickly fall in love. However, later on, Esther becomes pregnant with Frank's child from their brief romance. After the child is born, Esther gives him to Marjorie, who is unable to have children. Even after marriage, Aida cannot forget Frank, and her deep feelings are eventually discovered by her husband.
