Middle-aged stage actor Yasuji discovers his screenwriter wife, Oto, has had an affair. However, he quietly closes the door and leaves, as if nothing has happened, continuing to live a harmonious and loving life with her as usual. It isn't until Oto's death that Yasuji realizes he never confessed his feelings to her, which becomes a source of inner turmoil. Subsequently, still grappling with his grief, Yasuji begins preparing for a performance of "Uncle Vanya," immersing himself in work. Actors of different nationalities repeatedly study the script in their native languages under Yasuji's direction, even incorporating sign language, which adds emotional depth. The theater hires a female driver, Dot, to transport Yasuji to the rehearsal venue every day. Dot is quiet but an excellent driver. As they interact, Yasuji starts to gradually share his inner world with Dot, who also harbors a painful secret from her past. Their traumas are gently unveiled during a final trip home, and their embrace and comfort allow them to reexamine their sealed memories, bringing a sense of solace and release to their hearts.
