Female journalist Susan (played by Meryl Streep) interviews a "flower thief" who is frequently involved in lawsuits due to his love for orchids and his tendency to steal them, and turns his story into a biographical novel titled "The Orchid Thief." Soon, a Hollywood film company acquires the adaptation rights to the book and enlists the renowned adapter Charlie (played by Nicolas Cage) to turn it into a movie script. Unfortunately, Charlie has hit a creative wall and struggles to complete the adaptation of "The Orchid Thief."
