A black television director and his wife are inexplicably insulted by a white police officer for an alleged traffic violation; the officer, seemingly deserving of condemnation, unexpectedly saves the black woman he had insulted in a critical moment; an honest Persian shop owner nearly murders a tattooed Mexican locksmith (played by Michael Peña); the district attorney (Brendan Fraser) and his wife (Sandra Bullock) vent their frustration on the innocent locksmith after their Jeep is stolen; and a black police officer (Don Cheadle) is threatened by his superiors while desperately searching for his brother.
