In an accident, a young dolphin mistakenly entered a crab trap, resulting in a severe injury to its tail fin. Fortunately, it was discovered by a little boy and taken to the Clearwater Marine Hospital, where it was given a new name—Winter—and a new life began to unfold for Winter. For marine mammals, the tail fin is incredibly important; it provides the ability to swim, dive, and surface for fresh air. With a damaged tail fin, Winter would either float on the surface for life or face death by suffocation. To save Winter, a group of skilled scientists came together, using their intellect to invent a prosthetic tail fin. With the artificial tail fin, Winter became a symbol of courage and hope.
