Film director Sally (played by Sally Potter) faces a creative block while working on a new screenplay, leaving her frustrated and helpless. After watching an exuberant tango performance, she is deeply inspired and seems to find some creativity. She decides to temporarily set aside her work and begin learning tango. During her trip to Paris, she meets the famous tango dancer Pablo and is captivated by his dancing. She proposes that he perform in her next film in exchange for teaching her how to dance. Sally becomes increasingly enamored with tango, and throughout her lessons with Pablo, they fall in love with each other. However, the two come from vastly different cultural backgrounds, leading to contrasting personalities: Pablo, hailing from South America, possesses a strong need for control, wanting to dictate everything, including their love; while feminist Sally is crucial in determining Pablo's involvement in her film. Their relationship oscillates between tension and ease, marking the silent beginning of a love battle.
