The story takes place in France in 1795, where junior officer Napoleon (played by Christian Clavier) meets the beautiful Josephine (played by Isabella Rossellini) and they fall in love at first sight. They quickly become a couple. Subsequently, Napoleon's outstanding performance in the war and the public's support for him displeases the Paris government, leading his superiors to send him to the distant and dangerous Egypt. While in Egypt, Napoleon learns that the country's security is threatened by the anti-French coalition, and he decisively returns home to stage a coup, ultimately successfully becoming the Chief Executive. However, by 1807, encouraged by the Tsar, Austria mobilizes troops against France. To maintain the stability of his regime, Napoleon is forced to marry an Austrian princess, but it is already too late, and at the same time, the sorrowful Josephine leaves Napoleon.
