On a night in 2012, Dunya (Ryousuke Yamada), Shouta (Nijirou Murakami), and Kouhei (Kanichirou) grew up in an orphanage and committed a robbery against a female entrepreneur. After their car unexpectedly broke down, they fled in panic to hide in a grocery store that had long been closed. This store, named Wandering Thoughts Grocery, was previously run by the witty and kind-hearted elder Yuji Wanya (Toshiyuki Nishida), who had helped children with their troubles for fun decades ago and became increasingly famous to the point where people sought his advice on life's problems. Although the store was supposed to have been silent since 1980, it received letters of concern after the three intruded. Soon, Dunya and the others discovered that these letters actually came from the distant past. On a mysterious night, lost youths pen answers for others' troubles, intertwining their fates with that of the grocery store dedicated to alleviating worries… This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by popular Japanese mystery writer Keigo Higashino.
