During the Anti-Japanese War in the rural areas of Sichuan, the reactionary Kuomintang took advantage of the war to amass benefits by forcibly drafting young men under the pretext of a shortage of frontline soldiers, leading to a dire situation for the people. Captain Lu (played by Zhang Yisheng) from the district commands requested young men from Wang (played by Chen Ge), who then sought a labor draft contribution from landlord Li Laoshuan (played by Wu Xue).
