Eight-year-old Adam traverses the hills and valleys of the Tuscan countryside and suddenly finds himself in a small town near Siena, where he meets his little friends Arianna and Martino. Adam believes he can find his parents by the sea, so the three of them, along with a duck, embark on an adventurous journey to the ocean. Rimando, a somewhat childlike poet wandering between country inns, lends them a helping hand, and the three little ones finally arrive at the longed-for seaside, only to find that Adam's parents are not there...
