The failure of her marriage is a brutal blow for Frances (played by Diane Lane), a writer in her thirties. Luckily, a thoughtful friend arranges for her to travel to Tuscany, Italy. Little did she know that this breathtakingly beautiful city would change the course of her life. Frances sees an advertisement for a villa in the Tuscan countryside. Initially, she has no plans to buy it, but a series of coincidences leads to an unexpected bond with the house. Hence, the American writer decides to leave everything behind and start a new life in a foreign land. As Frances settles into her new home, the various tasks and challenges create some stress, and she finds herself overwhelmed by all the new people and experiences. A new romance also begins to unfold before her. The bright, sunny Tuscany gradually enriches Frances’s inner self.
