In the hellish concentration camp where over ten thousand people die each day, the two embark on a distorted relationship. As the Nazis face complete defeat in the later stages of the war, Helmut prepares fake passports and plans to escape with Olga to a German colony in South America, thrilling Olga who has a tremendous desire to survive. However, when Olga unexpectedly encounters the two Jewish boys she had hidden in her Paris apartment in the camp, she has a moment of hesitation that leads her to change her mind at the last moment.
