In 1964, post-war Japan was experiencing a period of rapid economic growth, with the Tokyo Olympics just around the corner, and the entire nation was engulfed in excitement. The San Chome of Yuyamacho, which we are familiar with, was also witnessing subtle changes in people's lives. Takarawa Ryunosuke (played by Yoshioka Hidetaka) finally married the gentle Hiromi (played by Koyuki), and their adopted son Jun (played by Suga Kenta) had entered high school and was striving for Todai, while the couple was also expecting a new life.
