During the period of the four major battles in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, there was a heroic and valiant volunteer army in China. They resolutely traveled to foreign lands to defend their country, experiencing life and death together on the battlefield and establishing profound revolutionary feelings. Sun Beichuan (played by Liu Ye) is the core leader of this team. He is battle-hardened, rough in personality but kind-hearted, and fearless on the battlefield. However, after meeting the artistic troupe leader Meng Sanya (played by Wang Luodan), this bravery is accompanied by a new sense of responsibility. Meng Sanya is a straightforward, tough-minded person with a soft heart. Her relationship with the rough Sun Beichuan originates from their banter, and after going through the life-and-death tests of war together, Meng Sanya's inner tenderness is awakened. Meanwhile, Sun Beichuan's good brother and bugler Zhang Luodong (played by Yang Youning) also develops feelings for Meng Sanya. His solitary fate shapes his pure and optimistic personality. To bring Beichuan and Sanya together, he willingly hides his feelings, but after the death of his only family member, his adoptive father Li Shunliang, Zhang Luodong experiences pain for the first time. Li Shunliang (played by Huang Zhizhong) is Zhang Luodong's adoptive father and a seasoned veteran in the team. He speaks directly and accurately about worldly matters, serving as the lubricant for the Ninth Company and as a spiritual mentor for Zhang Luodong. His sacrifice leads to a significant transformation in Zhang Luodong's life. Wang Wenjun (played by Ye Qing) is a progressive youth from a well-off background in Meng Sanya's artistic troupe. She demonstrates trust and support to her lover Liu Shiwen (played by Wang Longhua) with her life, awakening the strongest and most masculine side of this patriotic intellectual, facilitating his transformation from an intellectual to a true soldier. This group of ordinary yet extraordinary individuals weaves a story of love amidst the harsh and challenging years of war
