Wu Minghan (played by Xu Guanghan) is a straightforward police officer. During one of his calls, he accidentally picks up a red envelope from the ground, unknowingly getting involved in a ghost marriage, and the person he is set to marry is a man named Mao Bangyu (played by Lin Bohong). Though Wu Minghan is unwilling at first, he soon realizes that if he doesn’t go through with the marriage, bad luck will continually follow him. Reluctantly, Wu Minghan has to hold a ceremony with Mao Bangyu in the mourning hall. The next day, Mao Bangyu’s ghost appears before Wu Minghan, and to end this absurd farce, Wu Minghan must help Mao Bangyu fulfill his last wishes. He donates to an animal charity, visits Mao Bangyu's boyfriend from his living days, and investigates the truth behind the car accident that caused Mao Bangyu’s death. Throughout this process, Wu Minghan and Mao Bangyu transition from "fake husband and wife" to "real friends."
