This 1980 film centers on a group of railway postal workers, with the main character being an unremarkable man named EVERYDAY who struggles in love. The group tries every possible way to help him, but his crush ends up getting involved with the handsome guy who gives him advice. Only after the beloved becomes pregnant does it fall to him to heal and share his feelings. This romantic comedy showcases Haneké's humorous side related to his obsession with archives. The serious director can also make a love story, allowing the audience to experience the sweet and bitter life of humble characters with laughter and tears, while also satirizing the superficial love that emphasizes looks among beautiful people. The film faced ten years of struggles and, after being lifted from censorship, Haneké won the Best Director Award at the 1989 Berlin Film Festival with this film.
