An undercover police officer is killed by a gang leader due to poor acting skills. The chief (Hsu An-Hua) decides to find the most eager-to-act policeman in the department to study acting at an academy. Inspector Lin (Hsu Shao-Hsiung) finds the highly ambitious Chen Wenlong (Janice Man) and assigns him a crucial task. Wenlong is passionate about acting and has been in a relationship with his girlfriend Judy (Yip Shun) for seven years, but their connection has weakened. Shan Dan (Charlene Choi), a transfer student and a third-rate film actress, faces discrimination due to her profession but persists in improving her acting skills. At the same time, Wenlong's exaggerated acting attracts attention. Shan Dan and Wenlong, sharing similar struggles, become friends. Believing that his acting has improved, Wenlong undertakes an assignment arranged by his superior, but it ultimately fails. He is then ordered to drop out, but later receives guidance from a mentor (Anthony Wong) and truly understands the essence of acting.
