The story takes place in Germany in 1968, where a young man named Wolfgang (played by Louis Hofmann) faces a tense relationship with his stepfather after his mother remarries. Following a conflict, his stepfather sends Wolfgang to a youth correctional facility, marking the beginning of a painful and torturous life behind bars. Wolfgang, determined not to become a slave to brutal authority, repeatedly struggles and resists, but only ends up with scars. The only thing that keeps him going is the warmth of his mother's memory. Wolfgang decides to escape with his companion Anton (played by Langston Beckford-Uibel). They go through numerous hardships and eventually return to their hometown. However, when his mother sees Wolfgang, she does not react with the joy he had hoped for. Worse still, shortly after, he is sent back to the correctional facility by his stepfather and mother.
