During Rebeca's (played by Victoria Abril) childhood, her mother (played by Marisa Paredes), a famous singer, left to pursue her career, leaving her daughter to grow up alone. Rebeca has always wanted to keep her mother by her side, even indirectly causing the death of her stepfather, but all of it is in vain. The brilliance of her mother is so dazzling that Rebeca spends her life trying to imitate and catch up, wanting to become someone like her mother. At the same time, her mother's ruthlessness and an unattainable height fill Rebeca with jealousy and hatred. She becomes a news anchor, marries her mother’s old lover, and strives to make herself stronger. However, when her mother returns and reignites her romance with Rebeca's husband, Rebeca is furious. In a fit of rage, she kills her husband and confesses to her crime. After Rebeca goes to prison, her mother reflects on why their relationship has become this way. She wishes to atone for her sins and rescue her daughter, who is still in her prime, from prison so that Rebeca can continue to seek happiness.
