A group of Somali pirates hijack the Danish cargo ship "Rosen," which is sailing in the Indian Ocean under good weather conditions. The pirates are emboldened, and the concept of time being precious is a Western notion; they only care about the ransom. The CEO of the parent company to which "Rosen" belongs is a master negotiator and decides to take the lead in dealing with the pirates, with the only request being to remain calm. The problem is, no shipping school in the world has ever taught students how to deal with pirates, and remaining calm in the sweltering ship's cabin is not an option. The film unfolds through two threads: one revolves around the ship's cook, Mikkel, and the other follows the CEO, Peter, negotiating with the pirates from the company's office in Denmark.
