This film is based on true events. 23-year-old Dek Chai (played by Xu Tianyou) lives with his alcoholic mother (played by Hui Yinghong). Besides helping at his mother’s small grocery store, Dek Chai does nothing during the day and starts a relationship with a 15-year-old girl named Ying (played by Huang Minghui) from a nearby high school, which eventually leads to a sexual encounter. Dek Chai and Ying's affair is discovered by Ying's parents, who become furious and demand a large sum of money from Dek Chai's mother, threatening to sue Dek Chai. The weak-willed Dek Chai is panicked, and his anxious mother seeks money from Dek Chai's divorced father, but still cannot persuade Ying's parents to drop the lawsuit. In desperation, Dek Chai arranges to meet Ying and her friend in the countryside for negotiations, only to find that the conversation turns violent. Already having lost everything, how should the mother face the tragic situation her son has caused that seems impossible to resolve? This film won the Best Actress award at the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards, as well as Best Actress at the Asian Film Awards and the Hong Kong Critics Society Awards (Hui Yinghong).
