The story takes place in a run-down old apartment building, where a teenager named Charlie (played by Jules Benchetrit) has a new neighbor across the hall named Jeanne (played by Isabelle Huppert), who was once a famous actress but has now fallen out of the spotlight. Charlie decides to help Jeanne secure a role that is very important to her. One day, an astronaut named John (played by Michael Pitt) mistakenly lands on the roof of the apartment due to a navigation error. He knocks on the door of an elderly woman named Hamida (played by Tassadit Mandi), and they begin a wonderful three-day cohabitation. A lonely man named Berkowitz (played by Gustave de Kervern) has ended up in a wheelchair due to an accident, and while shopping, he encounters a nurse (played by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi) who is taking a smoking break. Berkowitz falsely claims to be a world-traveling photographer and wants to take a photo of the nurse.
