This is an exceptionally outstanding film about the relationship between humans and nature. In 1902 and 1907, Russian officer Arseniev led exploration teams to the Ussuri region, where he encountered the old Hezhen hunter Dersu Uzala both times. Dersu Uzala acted as a guide for the exploration team and saved Arseniev's life, establishing a deep friendship with him. Dersu has a profound understanding and respect for nature, and through his demonstrations and insights, he allows people to recognize the greatness and cruelty of nature. Humans can coexist peacefully with nature, but when nature is harmed, humans will be the first to suffer. Dersu is a sharpshooter, but later during a hunt, he discovers that his eyesight has degraded due to aging, making it difficult for him to see his prey, which leaves him very frustrated. He moves to the big city of Blagoveshchensk with Arseniev. However, Dersu cannot adapt to urban civilization; the city is completely different from the pure, natural land where he used to survive. The hunter leaving his gun and his familiar environment feels like a fish out of water. "You can't hunt in the city; without hunting, there are no sable." "I suddenly miss the air." He feels as if he is imprisoned, growing despondent. Dersu insists on returning to the mountains, back to the dense forest. However, the hunter's lack of good eyesight becomes his greatest tragedy.
