A hotshot director falls for a handsome young man he meets by chance. As he elevates his partner to a new star on the screen, he also plunges into an abyss from which there is no return. The film reinterprets Rainer Werner Fassbinder's "The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant," changing the protagonist's gender from female to male with Fassbinder himself portrayed in the film.
