After growing up, her father betrothed her to Wu Ju Feng Qingtian. Feng Qingtian is a hypocritical scholar who holds himself in high regard and looks down upon beauty, refusing to face the stunning Ah Ying, but secretly spying on her. The couple does not behave like a husband and wife, harboring resentment. On their way back to her family home, they rest under a tree, just as the infamous flower thief Xiong Yan (played by Dan Liwen) slowly approaches them. The county magistrate, unable to find the couple, orders a search. The guard captain (played by Gao Jie), who has secretly harbored feelings for Ah Ying, is anxious and arrives at the big tree only to find Wu Ju's corpse lying there. A peddler selling water powder (played by Huang Yaoming) sneaks around, and the captain immediately questions him, learning what he saw. However, he is unaware that there is more to the story, and a terrifying shadow looms closer to the county office...
