Albert Pierrepoint (played by Timothy Spall), the most famous executioner in Britain. He is calm, unsmiling, and places great importance on his professional ethics, earning the title of "the most efficient and humane executioner in the world." This profession requires secrecy about one's identity, absolute calmness, and precise calculations. His decisiveness and quick actions led him to set a record of executing a sentence in just 7.5 seconds. However, this secret identity became public due to his execution of Nazis. Pierrepoint never confused his profession with his life and rarely contemplated the brutality of his trade. Until one day in 1950, he personally “gave a farewell” to his friend James Cobbet (played by Eddie Marsan), which nearly drove him to a mental breakdown. This became a turning point in Pierrepoint's career, and in 1955 he wrote a letter resigning from his position as executioner, ending his 22-year involvement in the execution of 608 convicts.
