Ben Marco (played by Denzel Washington), who has received numerous honors and medals, was once a Marine Corps captain. During the first Gulf War, his squad was ambushed while conducting a nighttime search mission. Thanks to the quick thinking and bravery of his comrade, Sergeant Raymond Shaw (played by Liev Schreiber), the entire team managed to escape danger, and it was only due to Raymond that the unconscious Ben survived. Ten years later, Ben has recounted this past in various settings and has praised Raymond's bravery highly. Due to his outstanding performance during the war, Raymond's political career is bright. With the assistance of his mother, Irina (played by Meryl Streep), who is in the Senate, he has now become a vice-presidential candidate. However, at this moment, Ben feels increasingly anxious, constantly questioning everything that happened back then, as if there is another unknown version of the attack that night… This film is adapted from the classic 1962 film of the same name directed by John Frankenheimer.
