At 25 years old, Takano, a busy official of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, struggles between ideals and reality. Upon seeing the name of a young person his age on a list of "suicides due to irregular employment," he begins to investigate the cause of their death. Midori is a paper-cutting artist in her thirties who, despite wanting to have children, feels uncomfortable in her relationship with her husband. A class leader in the second year of middle school faces bullying after helping a friend, keeping the secret to avoid worrying his single mother. As the lives of the three intertwine, the power of language transcends time, revealing a glimmer of hope in the overcast sky. This film is adapted from the poetry collection of the prematurely deceased waka poet Shinichiro Hagiwara.
