Young Lucy (played by Liv Tyler) arrives in a small town with her mother's diary left after her suicide, visiting her mother's old friends and staying at the home of sculptor Grayson. Four years ago, Lucy came here with her mother and met a boy named Nicola. She was deeply touched by a letter he once sent her and shared a beautiful first love with him. Now, Grayson’s home is unusually lively, filled with various characters, and Lucy's beauty captivates all the men there, especially Alex, a writer suffering from leukemia, who finds it hard to resist her.
