Department store employee Takiko Yamashita (played by Miki Nakatani) visits a Chinese home-style restaurant called "Shanghai Small Restaurant" and invites the skilled chef, Boss Wang (played by Tatsuya Fuji), to open a shop in the department store. After being rejected, she persistently visits him multiple times. Although she doesn't get what she wanted, Takiko unexpectedly becomes enamored with the simple, delicious dishes that exude happiness and becomes a regular customer. As time goes by, Takiko and Boss Wang gradually become closer. However, the lonely and elderly Boss Wang suddenly falls ill. In order to keep the restaurant, which radiates the aroma of happiness, running, Takiko finally decides to resign and wholeheartedly learn cooking from Boss Wang, embarking on a touching journey of culinary learning. This film is also a work written and directed by director Mitsuhiro Miura, following his previous film "Country Photo Studio".
