Before ascending the throne, the young heir Victoria (Emily Blunt) is unhappy with her mother, the Duchess of Kent and Strathearn (Miranda Richardson), who is manipulating her through her private adviser, Sir John Conroy (Mark Strong), to force her to sign the Regency Agreement. At this time, lonely Victoria meets her cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Rupert Friend), for the first time.
