Marion (Julie Delpy) is a photographer from France, and her boyfriend Jack (Adam Goldberg) is an interior designer from the United States. They have been living in New York for two years, and their relationship has gradually become mundane. To rekindle their lost passion, they set off to Europe for a vacation. After enjoying a perfect trip and reigniting their feelings for each other, Marion decides to visit her parents in Paris and bring back her little cat, to which the Parisian-dreaming Jack happily agrees. However, a series of unexpected events ensue: Marion's parents are bold and utterly unreserved in their conversations; her ex-boyfriends start showing up, each crazier than the last... In just two days, Jack’s idyllic fantasy of Paris is shattered; his American sensibilities cannot accept any of this. Ultimately, Marion and Jack must sit down to discuss their future, a conversation that may signify a difficult beginning or merely a reluctant end.
