The story takes place in the crime-ridden city of Rio de Janeiro. Sandro (played by Michel Gomes) was once a simple and happy child, but all the beauty in his life vanished when he witnessed his mother being killed by robbers. Faced with immense pain and anger, Sandro becomes lost and begins to engage in self-destructive behavior, spending his days with local criminal gangs. Tempted by his companions, Sandro not only starts using drugs himself but also gets involved in the dangerous drug trade, which grows increasingly larger. During a police crackdown on drugs, Sandro narrowly escapes, and then he meets the only person who can bring warmth to his life—Melissa (played by Chris Vianna). It turns out Melissa is searching for her missing son, who is of a similar age and build to Sandro. By coincidence, Melissa becomes a mother figure to Sandro, but this cannot prevent him from heading towards self-destruction.
