The new film by French new director Antoine Husback is the first part of his social trilogy, telling the story of an unemployed middle-aged man who gradually becomes depressed to the point of contemplating suicide, depicting a bottomless despair. The script and overall narrative rhythm are outstanding, blending elements of Stephen Boué and the Dardenne brothers in both dramatic and thematic aspects.
