In the freezing cold Sapporo, “I” (played by Yo Oizumi), a private detective, and my partner Takada (played by Ryuhei Matsuda) are spending boring times in a quiet, dimly lit bar. Meanwhile, Toshio Kirishima, the respected president in the local financial sector (played by Toshiyuki Nishida), is murdered while returning home for rescuing a woman. Shortly after, “I” receive a mysterious phone call from a woman claiming to be Kyoko Kondo, who commissions “me” to inquire about the whereabouts of a man named Kato at a certain law firm. What seems to be a simple task soon pulls “me” and Takada into a web of danger. The more bizarre truth soon comes to light: the real Kyoko Kondo died in a fire a year ago... This film is adapted from Naoki Higashino's novel "Susukino Detective" series, the second part titled "The Call at the Bar," and was awarded 10th place in the 2011 Film Daily's Top Ten Films.
