Due to the war, Angus McMorrow (played by Alex Etel) has his father dispatched to the battlefield. He lives with his mother and sister, and he shares a deep bond with his father, eagerly awaiting his return home. Angus loves the vast sea but fears swimming. One day he discovers a strange stone by the seaside. It turns out to be an egg, and when a peculiar reptile appears before Angus, he is utterly amazed. He names this little creature "Crusoe," and even though Crusoe can be mischievous, he is very obedient to Angus. Angus treats Crusoe as a friend and takes great care of him, but as Crusoe grows larger, he fears that his mother will make him give up the creature. At this time, their large house is requisitioned by the army as a shelter, which makes Angus more cautious. Nevertheless, many ridiculous events happen due to Crusoe's mischief that he cannot avoid. Fortunately, Angus has the help of the male servant Lewis, and they put the increasingly large Crusoe into Loch Ness. Angus frequently runs off to play with Crusoe and dives underwater for the first time, guided by Crusoe. However, beneath the surface, trouble brews; locals begin to discover Crusoe's existence, seeking fame through it. Even the army stationed in Angus's home mistakenly believes the gigantic Crusoe is an enemy submarine and attacks the poor creature, prompting Angus to desperately rescue him.
