In the heart of a snow-covered forest, a gentle squirrel mother (voiced by Helena Bonham Carter) tells her children the tale of the Gruffalo: the adorable Gruffalo child (voiced by Shirley Henderson) attempts to venture into the deep dark wood but is roughly pulled back by her father (voiced by Robbie Coltrane). The father warns the child that the deep dark wood harbors terrifying Big Bad Mouse, and encountering it will surely lead to danger. As night falls and snowflakes swirl, Gruffalo Daddy falls into a deep sleep. However, in the warm cave, the little one is unable to sleep. His curiosity overcomes his fear of the Big Bad Mouse, and ultimately, he braves the heavy snow to venture into the deep dark wood. Mysterious footprints, a wicked venomous snake, and an owl prowling at night all provide the young Gruffalo with an unprecedented experience in the forest... This film is adapted from the picture book of the same name co-created by Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler.
