Young master Cheng Yipeng (Fan Dongyu) is obsessed with martial arts. His father tries to control his behavior through marriage, so Yipeng decides to go to Shaolin and become a secular disciple, which allows him to avoid the formidable martial artist fiancée Xiao Cui and learn Shaolin skills. After saying goodbye to his beloved Xiao Qing (He Qing), Yipeng heads to Shaolin. However, Master Hengde (Zhao Xiaorui) only makes a group of secular disciples do hard labor every day, refusing to teach them Shaolin techniques. Although the brothers are dissatisfied, they have no choice. Furthermore, with Xiao Qing staying near Shaolin, Yipeng and his brothers try various ways to find joy despite their hardships. A rogue, who was once expelled from Shaolin, intends to challenge Shaolin after visiting famous masters in order to avenge the resentment of not having learned martial arts back then. Yipeng and the secular disciples are beaten by the rogue multiple times, and when Hengde wants to confront the rogue, he is imprisoned by the abbot in the Scripture Repository. After enduring hard labor, Yipeng finally qualifies to practice martial arts and, under Hengde's guidance, seeks to redeem himself by confronting the rogue...
