Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts) is a typical unlucky individual. She has been married twice, but neither marriage brought her happiness, instead leaving her as a single mother with three children. Unlucky as she is, after a car accident, she even lost the compensation lawsuit she was determined to win. The lawyer defending her, Ed (Albert Finney), felt a mix of sympathy for Erin and guilt for losing the case, so he took her in to help out at his law firm. This provided Erin with a bit of stability in her life. While investigating a sewage complaint case, Erin accidentally discovered toxic substances in the wastewater, while the water company brushed off the issue. Determined, Erin decided to take on the heavy burden of seeking justice for the hundreds of residents affected by the pollution!
