A DC animated film based on "Gotham by Gaslight," "Batman: Gotham by Gaslight" is the first work in DC's "Elseworlds" series, which also includes "Western Batman." Set against the backdrop of "Sherlock Holmes," it takes place in the 19th century and features the wealthy Bruce Wayne and his butler Alfred, with Batman's greatest foe being the terrifying "Jack the Ripper" who strikes fear in the London police.
