"Little Flying Tigers" has won numerous awards, including Best Children's Show at the Golden Eagle Awards and Third Prize at the Feitian Awards. Several main child actors had little to no previous acting experience. To select suitable young actors, the production team chose over 30,000 children from more than 40 schools in Beijing, Shandong, and Henan. The story is set in Lunan during the War of Resistance, where messenger Old Wu (played by Guo Jinglin) is being chased by Japanese soldiers while delivering information to the Eighth Route Army in the mountains. In a desperate situation, he conveys coded messages to the young protagonist, Dazhuang (played by Zhao Zewen), who is playing in the reed marshes.
