Gray-haired Jack Kevorkian (Al Pacino) is a controversial doctor from Michigan, USA. Throughout his decades-long career, he has witnessed countless patients tormented by illness, unable to live or die. Jack firmly believes that a doctor's duty is not only to do their utmost to heal patients but also to empathize with them and fulfill their needs, including their desire for death. Thus, Jack attempts to assist terminally ill patients who have lost hope in life by performing euthanasia. However, his actions are met with widespread public opposition; people accuse him of taking lives and label him as "Dr. Death." Through this process, only his sister, Margo (Brenda Vaccaro), and a few friends silently support Jack's work.
