Agent Zhang Piao (played by Dong Piao) is killed by drug lord Deng Liyang (played by Fang Gang) while investigating a drug production case, and Deng disguises the scene to make it look like Zhang Piao committed suicide due to gambling debts. Unwilling to let his reputation be tarnished after death, Zhang Piao bribes an underworld judge to be revived and begins searching for a savior to exact revenge. Meanwhile, rookie cop A Xing (played by Stephen Chow) is paired with Zhang Piao's old partner Li Jin (played by Feng Cui Fan) in a new team. Zhang Piao, believing that A Xing is his destined savior, possesses a gun to assist A Xing in getting close to Li Jin's daughter, A Yu (played by Chen De Rong), in order to gain her help for revenge. Deng Liyang senses Zhang Piao's return and enlists a dark sorcerer who is Zhang Piao's nemesis to counter him. Li Jin, who practices Maoshan Taoism, is manipulated by Zhang Piao and A Xing, and he feels resentful and seeks revenge but is used by the dark sorcerer to seal Zhang Piao's ghost. Guided by the Maoshan ancestor, A Xing and Li Jin prepare a magical elixir to break the spell and call upon the ancestor to fight Deng Liyang and the dark sorcerer.
