Adam (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) is an associate professor of history at a university, living with his girlfriend and leading a quiet life of commuting to work each day. Until one day, he discovers an actor in a movie who looks exactly like him. He uses the internet to find information about this actor and manages to contact him.   The actor who looks just like Adam is named Anthony, and he has a pregnant wife. Initially, he sees Adam as just an obsessed fan, until he searches for Adam's information online and decides to meet him.   They agree to meet at a hotel, and when Adam sees Anthony, who is his identical double, he becomes fearful and tells Anthony that they should not meet again before hurriedly leaving. However, a few days later, Anthony appears at Adam’s house and makes a strange request...
