After World War II, a nation was sharply divided into two countries with different systems, causing its people, wandering in foreign lands, to long for their homeland, not knowing where it truly is. In the 1970s, Korean Matsumoto (played by Arata Iura), who was born in Japan, returns to his homeland Korea, which he has never set foot in, following his father's orders to support the construction of the communist cause. Little did he know this separation would last a quarter of a century. Matsumoto forms a family in his homeland, and his beloved younger sister Rie (played by Sakura Ando) has grown up. One day, messages of joy and sorrow arrive simultaneously, as Matsumoto is granted special permission from the government to go to Japan for a three-month treatment due to illness. The complex emotions spread among the reunited family and old friends… This film is adapted from the true experiences of the family by Korean-Japanese director Yang Young-hee, and it won first place in the Film Journal's Top Ten Films of 2012 and the Best Actress award (Sakura Ando).
