Mischa (Sandra Hüller) has been frail and sickly since childhood, but despite this, she decides to pursue her studies at university. Her father Karl (Burghart Klaußner) fully supports her decision, while her mother Marian (Imogen Kogge) is against it. Eventually, Mischa becomes a freshman on campus, where she meets a man named Steve (Nicholas Reinke), and for the first time, she experiences the sweetness of love. After a period of calm and orderly days, Mischa's old illness resurfaces, and strange sounds and mysterious figures frequently appear around her.
