The film is adapted from the children's book story "Curious George," created by Margret & H.A. Rey. Ted, a museum guide, loves his job, and his knowledgeable and enthusiastic explanations attract the attention of a beautiful schoolteacher named Maggie who brings her students to visit. However, the old curator announces some unfortunate news: due to a lack of visitors, the museum is facing closure, and the only way to save it is to launch a novel exhibit that no other museum has seen before. The old curator shows Ted a mysterious diary with a map that indicates the location of a lost sacred burial site of the Zagwa tribe in Africa, and if they bring back a large statue from there, the museum can be saved. Ted sets off to Africa by boat, and after arriving in the jungle, he finds the ancient statue shown on the map, but it is nothing like the magnificent description given by the old curator. At that moment, a mischievous little monkey becomes interested in Ted and follows him around. When Ted departs Africa, the monkey quietly sneaks onto the ship. After returning home, Ted faces homelessness and then unemployment, relying on this little monkey, whom he names George. Will Ted ultimately be able to find the legendary statue? And can the museum survive?
